Med Surg RN Job in Asheville, NC

Mission Hospital is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment on its 32-bed orthopedic Med-Surg unit in Asheville, NC. You will work the night shift, 3 days per week on a 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM schedule, earning $2,102.40 weekly.

Your Role

You will provide direct patient care on an orthopedic unit with individual patient rooms. Night shift patient ratios are 6:1, with occasional stretches to 7:1. Your responsibilities include dressing changes, suture and staple removal, Foley catheter insertion, NG tube placement, and wound vac maintenance and removal. You will document all care in the Cerner EMR system and may float to other Med-Surg units as needed.

Unit Staffing

Night shift consists of 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1–2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, and 1 HUC, providing structured team support.

Equipment and Tools

You will operate a range of standard orthopedic and mobility equipment including walkers, bedside commodes, bladder scanners, CPM machines, sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Lift, Maxi Move, vital sign machines, hover mats, Bair Huggers, and wheelchairs.

Work Schedule

The assignment runs 91 days, starting October 6, 2026. You will work every other weekend as part of your rotation.

Requirements

• Current North Carolina nursing license
• BLS certification
• Hospital experience preferred
• Orthopedic experience preferred

Additional Information

Navy scrubs are required per facility dress code. You must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
