ED RN Job in Merced, CA

Mercy Medical Center Merced is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026, paying $2,017 weekly. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Unit Overview

The ED operates 33 patient care rooms, with 25 equipped for cardiac monitoring, plus a triage area with 2 bays. You will manage a patient ratio of 1:4, with an average of 210 patients seen daily. A charge nurse is available 24/7 to support clinical decisions. Respiratory therapy, pharmacy with Omnicell access, and a full team of ER Techs (EMT, MA, or CNA credentialed) are on staff to assist with technical duties and EKGs. GE telemetry with central monitor stations supports your workflow at both nursing stations.

Expectations

• Work within the ED only—no floating to other units
• Cover 2 weekends per 4-week period and holiday shifts (2 out of 3 holidays required)
• Maintain strong documentation practices using Cerner EMR (experience required; note the facility where you used Cerner on your resume)
• Accept ER holds when needed
• Manage routine ER cases; complex cases such as STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric patients are transferred out

Support & Orientation

You will receive up to 6 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor to familiarize you with systems and workflows. The unit uses self-scheduling with the scheduler retaining the right to rebalance as needed.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
• Cerner EMR experience
• Strong documentation and clinical assessment skills
• Navy blue scrubs required; jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black
