Emergency Department RN Job in Austin, TX

Join South Austin Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for a 13-week contract assignment. You will work day shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on a 3x12 schedule with a rotating weekend rotation and no on-call requirements.

About the Role:

You will deliver direct patient care in a 48-bed private room department that includes 27 hallway stretchers, 9 fast track beds, and 5 behavioral health beds. Your responsibilities will include splinting, EKGs, central monitoring, trauma assists, central line placement, airway support, behavioral health de-escalation, Morgan lens application, rapid infuser operation, and resuscitation. Patient ratios vary by area: 1:4 in the main ED, 1:5 in behavioral health, and 1:3 for cardiac and trauma patients.

Equipment and Systems:

You will use Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 Rapid infusers, and Stryker stretchers. Documentation occurs in the MEDITECH EMR system; prior MEDITECH experience is preferred.

Required Certifications:

• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• TNCC
• NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trauma experience
• Inpatient holding experience
• CPI certification
• MEDITECH proficiency

Navy blue scrubs are required. You will thrive in this role if you are a strong multitasker, collaborative team player, and self-starter who can manage a fast-paced environment.
