About this role
Temple University Hospital is seeking an RN for their Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work as part of the Float Pool, providing intermediate-level care to Med/Surg, PCU, and ICU patients across the IMCU and step-down settings.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage complex withdrawal syndromes, including Opioid Use Disorder requiring Precedex or continuous drips, and alcohol withdrawal using the MINDS protocol
- Care for hypertensive urgency patients based on clinical stability; hypertensive emergencies with end-organ threat are excluded
- Manage DKA patients requiring insulin infusion and frequent glucose checks every 30–60 minutes; excludes patients with altered mental status
- Float between IMCU and step-down units only; IMCU nurses do not float to Med/Surg units
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, never exceeding 3:1 on any unit
General Exclusions
You will not care for patients requiring positive pressure ventilation (BiPAP or ventilator), dialysis, arterial lines, or continuous Bair Hugger therapy.
Core Duties
- Assess, implement, and evaluate patient care plans under physician direction
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to individualize care
- Direct nursing support staff in accordance with standards of nursing practice and departmental policies
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years RN experience with at least 2 years in your clinical specialty
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Pennsylvania RN license or MSL Compact license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications per order check
Assignment Details
This is a 90-day travel position beginning September 28, 2026. You will work 3x12-hour night shifts, earning $2,670 weekly.
