ED Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Join Aspirus Wausau Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department. This 13-week contract offers stable, predictable scheduling with guaranteed 48 hours per week and competitive compensation of $2,772 weekly.

Shift & Schedule

• 4x12 variable PM and night shifts
• PM shift options: 9:00 AM–9:00 PM, 10:00 AM–10:00 PM, or 11:00 AM–11:00 PM
• Night shift: 5:00 PM–5:00 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• On-call shifts available upon advance request, rarely occurring
• No float pool requirements

Clinical Environment

You will work in a Trauma Level II, 18-bed emergency department with a patient ratio of 3–4 patients per nurse. The unit handles a diverse case mix including cardiac, neuro, pediatric, geriatric, and respiratory patients. Respiratory therapy and X-ray staff are on site. The department is designated a stroke-certified unit, providing a structured environment for complex emergency care.

Responsibilities

Your duties include patient assessment, lab draws, nebulizer treatments, EKG interpretation, medication administration via Pyxis, and comprehensive charting in the EPIC system. You will manage fast-paced patient flow while maintaining clinical excellence and independent decision-making.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN license
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; Trauma Level I or II experience required if no prior travel nursing
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certification (ARC or AHA)
• EKG exam during compliance
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
