Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM (day or night shifts available)
• 4 shifts per week on night shift schedule
• Every other weekend required - nights rotate Friday/Saturday/Sunday, days rotate Saturday/Sunday
• Rotating holidays required based on unit needs
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 for both shifts
• 21-bed unit with 7 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms
• Acute care setting
• Common diagnoses include total joint replacements, spinal procedures, occasional burr holes, seizures, craniotomies, brain stimulation, traction for hips, Buck's traction, and Med Surg overflow patients
• Telemetry monitored remotely - must have basic arrhythmia knowledge and ability to recognize fatal rhythms
• IV drips limited to Heparin and Protonix (no titrating or cardiac drips)
• Respiratory support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow
• Charting system: EPIC
• IV system: B-Braun (no IV team on site)
• Charge nurse available 24/7, hospitalist in house 24/7, RT in house 24/7, and pharmacy in house 24/7
• PCT nurse aides available on unit
• May float to any Med Surg unit (will not float to ED or Behavioral Health)
• One orientation shift with a preceptor including Net Learning Modules and EPIC training
• Scrub color: Navy blue with navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt; natural hair color required; excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• BSN not required
• Block scheduling available if included in contract
