PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 PCU; 1:5-6 MS/MS Tele
• Float required to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
• Every other weekend required (average 6 weekends per 13-week contract)
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday work required: if 1-2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Required charting system: Epic; additional systems include Pyxis and SBAR
• Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, PCA, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Preferred skills include: arterial line management, central line care/management, care of ventilated patients, chest tubes, surgical drains, and spinal cord injury management
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
