About this role

You will work as a registered nurse on a fast-paced med-surg telemetry unit at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Crisis Response in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 27, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week
  • Weekly pay: $1,896.05
  • Every other weekend required; if you call out on a weekend, you must make up that time on another weekend
  • Block scheduling option available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)
  • No holiday RTO approved; no RTO after booking is allowed

Unit Details

  • Patient ratio of 5–6:1, flexing to 7:1 in extreme cases
  • Float requirement to other med-surg units based on census
  • Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients
  • High volume of pain management, particularly for orthopedic and spine patients
  • Strong focus on customer service and patient care coordination

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with mandatory orthopedic experience
  • IV start, telemetry, blood product administration, central line care and management
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Peripheral line care, surgical drain management, total joint replacement care
  • Peripheral nerve block catheter management, pre- and post-neurosurgery care
  • Orthopedic trauma and hip trauma experience
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • EKG testing required prior to start
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred

Support and Experience

First-time travelers accepted with Epic experience. The facility offers interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Charge nurse experience and Level I trauma experience are preferred.
