Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45 AM with bedside report
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays with core staff - travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
• First to float to all other Sacramento facilities; mid-shift float to another facility is rare but possible
• Level 3 NICU unit with 26-30 beds
• Preferred candidates will have pediatric experience; provider will only care for babies
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure and preterm patients; no cardiac surgery or defect repair
• Ventilator experience required
• Charge nurse available and generally does not take patients but will provide break relief
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictates
• No IV team on unit; respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Overtime and extra shifts available
• Self-scheduling is used but finalized by manager; schedules are released 4 weeks out and can be accessed remotely
• Block scheduling is generally not available
• Floor-specific orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional and must be navy
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• 2 supervisory references from the submitting modality required (charge nurse accepted); 1 within 12 months and 1 within 3 years
