ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Lewisgale Medical Center VA is seeking an experienced RN for their 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a night shift position working 3x12 hours (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) on a travel assignment lasting 91 days, starting September 21, 2026.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, fast-paced emergency setting
• Manage a patient ratio of 4–6:1
• Perform advanced procedures including RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, and psychiatric patient care
• Execute EMTALA transfers and other time-sensitive interventions
• Work within a night shift team of 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2–3 medics
• Use the Meditech EMR system

Schedule & Staffing

• Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday for nights) within each four-week scheduling period
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating to other units

Qualifications

• Current RN license
• 2–3 years of Emergency Room experience
• Minimum 2–3 prior travel assignments completed
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIH
• Experience in high-acuity, fast-paced, high-volume ERs preferred
• Comfort managing patient ratios of 5:1 preferred
