ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse in a 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 2, 2026, with a day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM–7:00 PM). You will earn $1,932 weekly.

About the Role

You will work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with patient ratios of 4–6:1. The ED operates with a structured staffing model: one charge nurse, five RNs, and 2–3 paramedics during the day shift, with increases at 11 AM (4–5 RNs) and 3 PM (1–2 RNs). Night shift maintains one charge nurse, five RNs, and 2–3 paramedics.

Your responsibilities include performing critical ER procedures such as rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, psychiatric patient care, and facility transfers under EMTALA guidelines. You will use the Meditech EMR system and work collaboratively with your team to deliver expert patient care.

Key Requirements

• Current RN license
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• 2–3 years of Emergency Room experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, and NIH stroke certification

Schedule & Expectations

You will work day shifts with no on-call responsibilities and no floating to other units. Weekend coverage includes four shifts per four-week period (Friday or Saturday for night coverage; Saturday or Sunday for day coverage). Dress code is navy blue or white scrubs.
