Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical Neuro position in Wilmington, NC. You will work 3x12 night shifts at $1,911 weekly for a 91-day contract beginning September 8, 2026.

Role Overview

You will care for adult patients with neurosurgical procedures and neuro diagnoses on the Med Surg Neuro unit. Your patient ratio will be 1:5–6, and you may float within or near the facility as needed. The role includes manager-assigned scheduling with up to 7 days of requested time off (no RTO during the first week). You must work 2 of 3 major holidays and plan for 12 to 16 weekend shifts per contract, though scheduling flexibility is available to discuss with your manager.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• NC or Compact license
• BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Neuro experience and previous charge experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Essential Skills

You will manage CVA patients, implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols, monitor telemetry, provide peripheral line care, start and maintain IVs, and perform non-invasive airway management. The unit operates with Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic systems.

Additional Information

You will complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation. Scrubs must be navy. Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team duties and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters. Interdisciplinary support is available through IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams. Blocked scheduling may be accommodated based on your request.
