Med Surg RN Job in Bridgeport, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 36-bed Med Surg unit at WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 29, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,267.

Schedule and Staffing

• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week: days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) or nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every-other-weekend requirement with Saturday and Sunday shifts
• Holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6
• 3 CNAs available on both day and night shifts
• Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge does not take patients, night charge does

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for general Med Surg patients, post-operative patients (lap chole, lap appy; no post-op ortho), and oncology patients with complications including neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
• Manage chest tubes and PleurX chest tube care (experience strongly preferred)
• Titrate heparin drips; no cardiac drips on this unit
• Monitor telemetry via Philips monitors; read and interpret strips independently
• Manage CPAP and BiPap (respiratory therapy available)
• Provide occasional one-to-one monitoring for psychiatric patients with a sitter
• Float to other Med Surg or Telemetry units as needed

System and Requirements

• Charting via EPIC
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus
• Royal blue scrubs required; no false nails permitted
• Provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license with submission
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
