Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You'll work a 3x12 night shift schedule on the 6900 GI/GU unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 16-week travel assignment with 36 guaranteed hours per week. Every other weekend is required; no on-call duties.

Your patient population includes adults with ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU conditions, and medical overflow. You'll manage patient ratios of 1:4–6 on this high-turnover surgery unit and may float within the service line as needed.

Your clinical responsibilities include:

• Administering drips: Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivalirudin, and Amiodarone (stable, non-titrated)
• Managing PCAs, Epidurals, and Continuous Bladder Irrigations (CBIs) with different irrigation solutions
• Performing special procedures: Foley catheter care, CBI, TURPs, and colorectal patient protocols
• Blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Colostomy and ileostomy management and care
• Feeding tube care and management
• PICC line management and peripheral line care
• Phlebotomy and starting and maintaining IVs

You must demonstrate basic telemetry knowledge and pass the Relias EKG exam. The facility uses centralized telemetry monitoring, and you'll be expected to interpret and manage dysrhythmias. Epic charting system experience is required.

Required qualifications: Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, current travel experience (first-time travelers not accepted), ACLS, BLS, and BSN. You must be located outside the 75-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted.

Weekly pay is $2,071. Assignment begins September 14, 2026. Wear navy scrubs.
