Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical-Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 13-week travel assignment with 4x12-hour night shifts at $2,411 per week.

Assignment Details

• Start date: October 12, 2026
• Shift: Nights, 4 days per week (12-hour blocks)
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio: 1:4–5
• Float within service line as needed
• Block scheduling not available
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract

Clinical Scope

You will care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including infection, renal, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, orthopedic, bariatric, pre-transplant, observation, psychology, and long-stay cases. Patient turnover is high, with lengths of stay ranging from a few hours to long-term depending on census.

Required clinical skills include blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high-flow nasal cannula, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, IV insulin protocols, telemetry monitoring, PICC line management, tracheostomy care and management, and wound care including wound vacs.

You will work with equipment including Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BIPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales. Charting is performed in Epic.

Requirements

• Active RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG exam with interpretation and dysrhythmia management competency
• Epic experience required
• 1–2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
• Navy scrubs

Support

Interdisciplinary support is available through IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
