PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,583.

Position Details:

• Shift: 3x12 nights (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Patient ratio: 1:4

Unit Overview:

You will work in an 8-bed observation unit with high-volume admissions and discharges. Average patient stay is up to 48 hours. Patient populations include those with anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre- and post-op urology and GI cases, and cardiac conditions requiring drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin. You must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips and perform EKG monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the PCU setting
• May float to inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU
• Document in Epic charting system
• Manage cardiac monitoring and medication administration

Requirements:

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• NIHSS highly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• 1 prior travel assignment
• Epic charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Background in observation, med/surg, or telemetry units preferred

Additional Information:

The contract includes 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be applied in hour increments as needed. The unit typically experiences low census in 4-hour increments. Any scrub color is acceptable.
