PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 48-hour weekly guarantee
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirement; standby requirement possible if census is low
• Float pool position covering all inpatient units based on competency, including ICU, Step-down, and Medical/Surgical
• Patient ratios vary by unit: Med/Surg 1:6, Step-down 1:4 or 1:5, ICU 1:2 or 1:3
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, orthopedic/neurological, surgical, and general medical cases
• RNs required to titrate drips in step-down areas only (including Heparin, Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Dobutamine, and others)
• Telemetry monitoring available with monitor techs; CVU reads own strips
• CPAP and BiPap available on all units; vents in ICU; chronic trach vents may go to step-down
• Daily unit assignments obtained by calling the staffing office
• Free charge nurse coverage on day shift Monday through Friday; house supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aides available on unit
• 3 to 4 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs
• Charting system: EPIC
• Med/Surg background required; Step-down experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• Valid driver's license with current permanent address must be provided upon submission
