PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 4 shifts per week with flexibility required around consecutive shift scheduling
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation participation required
• Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• 2 orientation shifts on the unit
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS (NIHSS must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
• EPIC charting system experience required
• BSN not required
• Care setting: Acute
• Work in a 31-bed Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (25 Stepdown beds, 6 EMU beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU floor
• Nurse aides available on unit at a ratio of 1:8-9 with 4 aides per shift
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EMU patients
• Strong neurology experience required including history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH stroke scale
• Experience with EVDs preferred
• Telemetry present on unit; RNs not required to read strips
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 to manage floor vents; RNs not required to have vent experience
• Titration performed by physician orders only; common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
