Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Oncology

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every-other-weekend requirement with Saturday and Sunday shifts for both days and nights
• Work in the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff
• 36-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
• 3 CNAs available on both day and night shifts
• Care for general MedSurg patients, some post-operative patients (lap chole, lap appy - no post-op ortho), and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
• Experience with chest tubes strongly preferred, including PleurX chest tube management
• Occasional psychiatric patients who may require 1:1 monitoring with a sitter
• Heparin drip titration required - no cardiac drips on this unit
• Telemetry monitoring via Philips monitors - central monitor tech available hospital-wide, but RNs must be able to read and interpret strips independently
• CPAP and BiPap available on unit and managed by respiratory therapy
• Charge nurse available 24/7 - day charge nurse does not take patients, night charge nurse does take patients
• Float to any MedSurg/Tele unit as needed
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
• ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus
• Royal blue scrubs required - no false nails permitted
• Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license with submission
• Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius of the facility
