PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You will work as an RN on the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) located on the E4 floor of the Heart Tower at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit where you will provide direct patient care with a 1:5 patient ratio.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Care for post-operative cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients, including those recovering from open heart surgery, CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Manage overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management using medications including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Operate Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts
• Document using Cerner EMR

Requirements:

• Current RN license
• Stepdown and telemetry experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred within the last year
• CVICU experience preferred

Schedule & Expectations:

• 3x12 day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Holiday flexibility required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical units (1:6–7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio)

• Weekly pay: $2,102.40
• Assignment duration: 91 days
