Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Day shift position working 36 or 48 hours per week
• Contract length of 13-20 weeks accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6 on days and nights; 1:5 on weekends
• Every other weekend requirement
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; no RTO during first week and holidays are excluded
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No block schedules unless a weekend block
• Self-scheduling type
• Float requirement: may be required to float to main campus approximately 32 minutes away
• No on-call requirement
• 24-hour unit orientation
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white
• Unit consists of 36 beds and 36 rooms serving adult and geriatric patients
• Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to: diabetes, dementia, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disasters
• Medication system: Pyxis
• Charting system: Epic (preferred)
• Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include: Med/Surg, MS/Tele, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry remote monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, heparin, insulin, PCA, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include: ACLS, telemetry on-unit monitoring, post angiogram, post cardiac surgery, post MI, IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery, continuous bladder irrigation, accessing/managing ports, CVA, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, interpretation of arterial blood gases, pre/post thoracic surgery, tracheostomy care, previous charge experience, electronic documentation, and community hospital experience
