PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Located on the 5th floor in the main building of the facility
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with a maximum of 1:5 for stepdown
• Unit consists of 25 beds with night shift staffing of 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 techs
• No on-call requirement
• Floating requirement to stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit
• EMR system used is Meditech
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH
• Strong customer service skills required
• Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred
• Meditech experience preferred
• Care for patients requiring acute surgical intervention or post-op care including trauma, bariatric, vascular, general, urological, orthopedic, neuro/spine surgery, and GI bleed/endoscopy
• Manage patients with neurological diagnoses including CVA, TIA, TBI, altered mental status, meningitis, new onset seizures, and hypertensive crisis
• Monitor and treat cardiac patients including chest pain, CHF, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, and acute cardiac dysrhythmias
• Administer and monitor various IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and others
• Monitor telemetry and perform vital signs and patient assessments every 4 hours
• Level 2 trauma center with 90% of inpatients coming from the emergency department
• Ideal candidate is a team player, adaptable to a changing environment, and possesses strong communication skills
