PCU RN Job in Denton, TX

Medical City Denton is seeking an RN for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three days per week, caring for patients in our Level 2 trauma center.

Role Details:

• Located on the 5th floor of the main building with 25 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5
• Night shift team includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 techs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to stepdown service lines, including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Care for post-operative and acute surgical patients including trauma, bariatric, vascular, general, urological, orthopedic, neuro/spine surgery, and GI bleed/endoscopy cases
• Manage neurological diagnoses: CVA, TIA, TBI, altered mental status, meningitis, new onset seizures, and hypertensive crisis
• Monitor and treat cardiac patients with chest pain, CHF, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, and acute dysrhythmias
• Administer and monitor IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, and Dopamine
• Monitor telemetry and perform vital signs and patient assessments every 4 hours
• 90% of inpatients arrive from the emergency department

Requirements:

• Active RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required
• Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Compensation:

$1,674 weekly. Assignment begins September 21, 2026.
