PCU RN Job in San Marcos, TX

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital San Marcos is seeking a registered nurse for a 91-day travel assignment in our Progressive Care Unit. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, providing intermediate care to patients who require closer monitoring than traditional medical-surgical units but may not need intensive care.

In this role, you will:

• Practice independently within an intermediate care setting, maintaining awareness of all relevant aspects of patient situations
• Provide routine and complex nursing care with focus on long-term goals and patient outcomes
• Apply the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for your assigned patients
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for side effects and therapeutic effectiveness
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided in medical records
• Assess patient learning needs and deliver education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• Make appropriate care assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations effectively

Requirements:

• Active RN license in Texas or valid compact state license
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• ACLS certification (AHA only)
• 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
