Telemetry RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking an RN for a Telemetry position in Abilene, TX. You'll work 4x12 night shifts with weekly pay of $2,695.68 for a 91-day assignment beginning October 5, 2026.

Role Overview

You will care for adult and geriatric patient populations on a med-surg telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:5. The unit maintains a daily census of 10–12 patients across 15 beds and 15 rooms. You may float between the South and North campuses as needed and will manage primary med-surg diagnoses including TIA/CVA patients and those with peripheral catheters. The unit does not admit cardiac patients such as those with ACS, NSTEMI, elevated cardiac troponins, or post-cardiac cath requiring cardiac or insulin drips.

Schedule and Flexibility

Self-scheduling is available with 36 or 48 hours per week options. You'll work 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Port access and management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• Central line and tracheostomy care
• CVA and wound care, including wound vac management
• Cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and ABG interpretation
• Feeding tube care and isolation precautions

Equipment and Support

You'll work with Alaris IV pumps, Sara Steady and Hoyer lift equipment, and tele-neuro and tele-psych cameras. Altera charting experience is preferred but not required. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in this service line
• Prior travel healthcare experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
