Telemetry RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking a Registered Nurse for Telemetry to join their team on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work 3x12 night shifts at $2,035 weekly, with a start date of October 5, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations across a 15-bed unit with a daily census of 10–12 patients. Your patient ratio will be 5:1 across all shifts and weekends. You will float between South and North campuses as needed and manage primarily med-surg diagnoses, including TIA/CVA patients at appropriate ratios. This position does not care for acute cardiac patients such as ACS, NSTEMI, or those requiring cardiac drips or insulin drips.

Scheduling and Experience

Self-scheduling is available with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. A minimum of 2 years of Med Surg Tele experience is required. Travel experience and previous charge experience are preferred.

Required Certifications and Skills

You must hold current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Essential clinical skills include:

• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Central line and PICC line care and management
• CVA management and stroke protocols
• Feeding tube and tracheostomy care
• Blood product and heparin protocol administration
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Pre- and post-hemodialysis management
• Wound care and wound vac management

Equipment and Systems

You will work with Alaris IV pumps, Sara Steady and Hoyer lift equipment, and tele-neuro/tele-psych cameras. Altera charting system experience is preferred but not required.

Support Services

Interdisciplinary support is available through IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
