Telemetry RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for Telemetry in Abilene, TX. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 21, 2026, working 3x12 night shifts at $2,016 weekly.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care on a medical-surgical telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric populations across 20 beds. Patient ratios are maintained at 5:1 for days, nights, and weekends. You'll manage a daily census of 17 patients with up to 20 visits per day. The unit does not treat acute chest pain, elevated troponin, cardiac drips, post-heart catheterization with intervention, or post-new pacemaker placements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products and manage heparin therapy
• Care for PICC lines, tracheostomies, and wounds including wound vacs
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula support
• Monitor and manage chest tubes and hemodialysis pre/post care
• Float between both Abilene campuses as needed
• Participate in a self-scheduling format with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in this service line
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Altera charting system experience preferred but not required

Support Services

You will have access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary support.
