Nuclear Medical Technician - Nuclear Med Technician

Job Details:

• Work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Perform nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation
• Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring patients meet requirements prior to imaging
• Provide patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety
• Apply principles of nuclear medicine safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others
• Operate nuclear medicine equipment and other associated equipment to achieve desired results
• Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort
• Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination
• Select appropriate parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition
• Perform venipuncture, start and maintain venous access
• Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes, ensuring correct isotope and dose is used
• Evaluate images and data for technical quality
• Report and document nuclear medicine safety incidents and adverse events per protocol
• Manipulate and process digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident
• Utilize radiology information systems including PACS, complete all required records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review and interpretation
• Document all information pertinent to nuclear medicine procedures in electronic medical record including medication reconciliation
• Ensure patients receive discharge information regarding their exam
• Order radiopharmaceuticals through vendor-specific protocol
• Assist with PET services as needed
• Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program required - education verification required
• CNMT or ARRT(N) certification required
• AHA BLS certification required
