About this role

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry position on the cardiac unit. This is a night shift role offering 36 hours per week over a 91-day contract, with a weekly pay of $2,043.79.

Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12 nights
  • Contract length: 91 days
  • Patient ratios: 1:4 for surgical step-down; 1:5–6 for lower acuity
  • Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible scheduling)
  • Float requirement follows unit rotation; you are not first to float
  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor
  • Travel experience required, unless you have more than 24 months of cardiac floor experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Required Skills

  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/step-down patient care
  • Sheath removal and management
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
  • Management and titration of cardiac drips
  • Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
  • External CPAP/BiPAP and non-invasive airway management

Preferred Skills

  • Arterial line management
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Charge experience

Equipment and Systems

You will work with arterial lines, Doppler ultrasound, bladder scanner, EKG machines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires. Charting is performed in EPIC (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication standards.

Additional Requirements

Contract staff are assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team duties and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
