Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Must work at least one day of each winter holiday: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve or New Year's Day
• Float required between all Cone Health facilities
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Patient ratio of 6:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Epic EMR experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Med Surg Telemetry and Telemetry experience required
• Must pass a compliance EKG dysrhythmia interpretation exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-op general surgery, post-op general GYN surgery, post-op total knee and hip replacements, orthopedics, acute and chronic pain, active GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema, diabetes (hyper and hypoglycemic conditions), renal failure, drug overdose, CIWA score below 7, suicidal ideation, arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, uncontrolled or new onset of seizures, and stable COVID patients
• Administer IV medication drips including Heparin and TNA
• Skills required include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, isolation precautions/PPE, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Unit operates with 41 beds and a daily census of 34
