RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:3.5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required with 6 weekend shifts per contract
• Float required between two spine units (174/115)
• No on-call required
• Maximum of 2 RTO requests per contract
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Care for patients undergoing elective spine surgery and some traumatic spine cases from the emergency department
• Procedures include cervical to sacrum range, lumbar drains, mobility three times per day, and pain management
• Special equipment includes Hoyer lift and lumbar drains
• Patient population is adults only
• Daily census of approximately 9 patients across 10 rooms and 18 beds
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Skills required include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, heparin, insulin, isolation precautions/PPE, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury care, telemetry remote monitoring, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
