Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for the Medical Surgical Rapid Response unit in Wilmington, NC. This is a 91-day travel contract beginning September 28, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 3x12 night shifts (36 or 48 hours per week accepted)
• Every other weekend assignment
• Weekly pay: $1,911

Role Details

You will work with a patient ratio of 1:5–6 and float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed. The unit focuses on severe orthopedic trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, neurological trauma, and subdural hematoma. You will manage complex skills including heparin drips, PCA, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, and wound care. Dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions are core responsibilities.

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• EKG testing prior to start
• Epic documentation experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Orientation and Facility Information

You will receive 28 hours of orientation (12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education). The unit uses Pyxis and Epic systems with SBAR communication. Navy scrubs are required.

Additional Expectations

Contract staff are assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team duties and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters.
