Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department
• On-call required every other weekend
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and Halloween
• Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of experience in emergency nursing required
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Care for patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS
• AHA certifications required
• CPI certification required or must be obtained before start date
• Proficient in skills including triage, IV insertion and maintenance, blood product administration, phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care and management, chest tube management, arterial line management, IV vasopressors, IV insulin protocols, continuous IV sedation, care of ventilated patients, and splint application
• Experience managing behavioral and psychiatric patients including suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, acute psychosis, and violent behavior
• Facility handles approximately 160 patient visits per day across 24 rooms and 31 beds
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, social services, and interpretation services
• Compact or Louisiana nursing license required upon submittal
