ED Registered Nurse Job in Monroe, LA

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Monroe Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. You will work 3 x 12-hour night shifts over a 91-week assignment beginning October 19, 2026, at a weekly rate of $2,062.

Role Overview

You will care for patients in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department with a patient ratio of 1:4. The department handles approximately 120 patient visits per day across 32 rooms and 33 beds. Every other weekend shift is required, and you must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience
• Travel healthcare experience (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI certifications
• Epic charting system experience

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC certification
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Community hospital experience
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience

Clinical Responsibilities

You will perform triage, IV insertion and management, arterial line management, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and care for ventilated patients. Additional skills include procedural sedation monitoring, 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation, dysrhythmia and ABG interpretation, IV vasopressor management, psychiatric and behavioral health patient care, splint application, phlebotomy, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction. You will care for patients of all ages including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Support and Resources

Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. Scrubs should be royal blue.
