ED Registered Nurse Job in Baton Rouge, LA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge, a combined adult and pediatric emergency setting that handles approximately 160 visits per day across 31 beds and 24 rooms.

Schedule & Duration

• 3x12-hour day shifts per week with variable scheduling including weekend coverage
• On-call requirement every other weekend
• 91-day travel assignment starting November 16, 2026
• Must work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

Compensation

• $2,046 weekly pay

Qualifications Required

• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• CPI certification (must obtain prior to start if not already held)
• NIHSS certification
• Epic charting system experience

Clinical Responsibilities

You'll maintain a 4:1 patient ratio and manage a broad range of emergency conditions including trauma, behavioral health, neurological emergencies, cardiac events, respiratory conditions, and pediatric emergencies. You'll treat patients across all age groups from neonates through geriatrics.

Your core skills will include triage, IV insertion and management, phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, central line care, chest tube management, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, intubation, and splint application.

Support Available

You'll have access to interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and interpretation services. You'll complete a 24-hour orientation period before beginning independent practice.
