PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call required
• Floating within scope is required based on facility needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 and may increase to 1:5 based on patient acuity and unit needs
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Telemetry experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I/II Trauma experience preferred
• Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience required
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for patients receiving drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and insulin
• Blood product administration, peripheral IV management, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Heparin protocol and PCA experience required
• Timely discharge, hourly rounding, and bedside shift report are expected for all patients
• 48-bed cardiac telemetry PCU serving adult patients with an average daily census of approximately 48 patients
• Patients primarily admitted from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other inpatient units
• Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, other cardiac arrhythmias, and post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Team nursing approach utilizing PCAs/CNAs and LPNs
• Fast-paced unit with quick patient turnover
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Prophecy Relias Basic EKG assessment required
• 4 hours of stroke CEs annually required
• Maryland RN license required upon submittal
• Only time off approved by unit leadership and noted in the contract will be granted
