Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Contract length of 13-20 weeks with 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Every other weekend requirement
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off per contract; no RTO during first week and holidays are excluded
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Self-scheduling type
• No on-call requirement
• Float requirement applies; traveler may be required to float to main campus approximately 32 minutes away
• Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• 24 hours of unit orientation provided
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white
• Unit uses Pyxis for medication management
• Charting system: Epic
• 36-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include diabetes, dementia, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry remote monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, bowel obstruction management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV insertion and maintenance, heparin, insulin, PCA, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include telemetry on-unit monitoring, post angiogram, post cardiac surgery, post MI, IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery, continuous bladder irrigation, accessing/managing ports, CVA management, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, interpretation of arterial blood gases, pre/post thoracic surgery, tracheostomy care, previous charge experience, and community hospital experience
