PCU Registered Nurse Job in Cookeville, TN

Cookeville Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in a 31-bed stepdown neuro unit. You'll care for adult patients recovering from cardiac and neurological procedures, working 3x12 night shifts on a block schedule with every other weekend required.

Shift and Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend commitment
• Block scheduling available
• Patient ratios: 5:1 during night shifts

Clinical Details

This unit manages patients with cardiac observation cases including cardiac catheterization, TEE, EP studies, pacemaker management, and pre- and post-procedural care. You'll work with patients across vascular lab, angiography, and EP procedures. Neuro experience is valued, and you must be skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Prior travel healthcare assignment required (first-time travelers not considered)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Tennessee state license or current compact license
• Cardiac experience required
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius of facility
• No time off permitted on 2/8/26 or 3/26/26

Your Team

You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretaries. The unit maintains a daily census of 12 patients, creating a manageable environment for quality care.

Charting and Support

The facility uses Paragon charting system. Weekly compensation is $2,442 for a 91-day assignment beginning November 2, 2026.
