PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

You will work as a registered nurse in a flex pool role at Hilo Medical Center, rotating across multiple medical and surgical units. This position offers 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with an expected schedule of 36 hours per week following your initial orientation week. Please note that hours are not guaranteed.

Your assignment will include the Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds). Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: the Medical Unit maintains 1:6 for day and evening shifts and 1:8 for nights, Laulima Unit operates at 1:6, and the Cardiovascular Unit at 1:4.

You will work with established clinical systems and equipment, including Meditech EMR, Pyxis medication dispensing, wound vac therapy, and chest tube management. Each unit will provide orientation to familiarize you with its specific workflow and patient population.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Current RN license active in the State of Hawaii, required by your start date of October 5, 2026
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (up to 10 years preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC certifications preferred

Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs are required. As a float RN, you will develop competence across multiple specialty areas while maintaining continuity of care standards. Orientation is provided for each unit you rotate through.
