PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Join Hilo Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in our 15-bed Progressive Care Unit. You will deliver direct patient care in a dynamic acute-care setting, working with both progressive care and step-down ICU populations.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide primary nursing care to patients across progressive care and step-down ICU beds
• Monitor telemetry, interpret telemetry strips, and perform fingerstick blood sugar checks
• Manage patients using Meditech charting system and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Operate BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
• Float to acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and Emergency Room as needed

Scheduling and Pay:

• Scheduled 36 hours per week following your first week of orientation
• No guaranteed hours and no on-call responsibilities
• Weekly pay: $2,252
• 91-day assignment beginning October 5, 2026

Unit Details:

• 15-bed Progressive Care Unit with 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds
• Patient ratios: 1:4 for progressive care; 1:3 for step-down ICU

Requirements:

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• ACLS certification required
• PALS and NIHSS certification preferred
• Progressive care and telemetry experience preferred
