PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12, weekdays with some weekends required
• Block scheduling considered for weekend blocks only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flexibility to 1:5 in emergency situations
• Patients are primarily cardiac, including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as med/surg and medical patients
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Unit capacity of 36 beds with a daily census of 34
• 1 year of medical/telemetry experience and 2 years of stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association)
• Required skills: IV start and telemetry
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR required
• Key clinical skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Dress code: Burgundy and/or white scrubs (not provided by facility)
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
