PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement depending on staffing
• Holiday requirement on a rotational basis
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 with clinical associate support
• Care for trauma and general medical/surgical patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Manage patients with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, and complex trauma
• Care for respiratory compromised patients including BiPAP management, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomies, and chronic vent-dependent patients
• Support reconstructive plastic surgery with microvascular free flaps, advanced diabetic management, and complex wound management
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Labetalol, Amiodarone, and others (no sedative drips on unit)
• Perform basic EKG interpretation with telemetry tech support available in central location
• All 24 beds are monitored with telemetry and video monitoring available for patient safety
• Float on a rotational basis with other staff members on the unit
• Strong assessment skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment required
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Royal blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Up to 2 shift cancellations per 13-week contract
