Operating Room RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work three 12-hour shifts per week during day hours, with schedules typically running Monday/Tuesday/Thursday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, including call and late days as required.

Role Responsibilities

You will provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical specialties, including neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics/trauma procedures. You will maintain a 1:1 patient ratio and serve adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric populations. Weekend shift frequency varies based on contract needs.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the OR service line
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience (required)
• BLS certification
• Proficiency with craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, arthroscopy, laparoscopic assisted procedures, and general OR procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS, CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, or TNCC certification
• Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• Altera/Allscripts electronic health record experience
• Trauma Level I or Level II facility experience
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Prior travel nursing experience

Support and Resources

You will receive 40 hours of orientation and benefit from interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,436.48. Assignment begins October 19, 2026.
