ED RN Job in Salem, VA

You'll work as an RN in a freestanding emergency department at Lewisgale Medical Center VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a 3x12 schedule. You'll earn $1,932 weekly.

The freestanding ED has 8 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. You'll manage independent IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and medication preparation, including pharmacy mixing of medications such as tPA and KCentra. Every patient and medication requires scanning before administration. You'll work with GE Monitors, a nursecall system, small ventilators, Baxter pumps, and Zoll defibrillators. The facility uses Meditech for its electronic medical record system.

Requirements:

• Current RN license
• Previous emergency room experience
• ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications
• Independent IV skills, EKG skills, and patient assessment skills
• Experience in a freestanding ED setting is preferred

You'll work a rotating weekend schedule that includes 3 weekend shifts (Fridays and Saturdays) per 4-week cycle. Holidays are required. No floating to other units is required. Dress code is navy or white scrubs.
