ICU Registered Nurse Job in Phoenix, AZ

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its ICU Float Pool in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 2, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,235.

Role Overview

You will work three 12-hour shifts per week as part of a float pool covering multiple ICU units and select Med-Surg/Telemetry areas. Your schedule is set 4 weeks in advance with possible adjustments up to 2 weeks prior based on hospital needs. You will float among Tower 2 (medical, surgical, and trauma patients), Tower 4 (cardiothoracic ICU with lung transplant and ECMO focus), and 4 Neuro (neuro-specific ICU). ICU units maintain a 1:2 patient ratio; Telemetry maintains 1:4. You may also be floated to sister campuses in Glendale and Laveen. Four weekend shifts per 4-week period are required, along with holiday coverage as needed. No on-call requirement applies; however, if placed on standby due to low census, a 30-minute response time is required.

Shift Details

Day shifts run 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; night shifts run 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. You will receive assignments 30 to 60 minutes in advance via GroupMe or phone. Attendance at the 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM unit huddle is expected.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Ability to manage all critical drips and multiple types of respiratory support (ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen)
• Proficiency reading telemetry strips using GE equipment
• Charting in Cerner
• ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (80% or higher) before contract start
• Must successfully complete Day 1 SIMs Lab with competency assessments for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes

Additional Information

Two orientation shifts are provided; a third is available only if needed. You must be located outside a 50-mile radius from the facility. BSN is not required.
