Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with a 30-minute lunch break
• Night shift weekends include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; Day shift weekends include Saturday and Sunday on an every-other-weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit needs
• Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs with block scheduling available as long as unit needs are met
• 33-bed unit with all private rooms; patient ratio is 1 to 6
• Common diagnoses include elective surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back and neck neurosurgeries, and general Med Surg cases
• Must have experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• IV fluids and PCA pumps utilized; no heparin or other drips required
• CPAP, BiPap, and high flow oxygen equipment on unit, managed by respiratory therapy
• Remote telemetry available if needed, monitored by third floor; RNs are not required to read strips
• Charge nurse available 24/7; night charge will always carry a full patient assignment
• Patient Care Techs available for vitals, fingerstick blood sugar checks, ADLs, and Foley discontinuation
• Travelers are first to float and may be required to float to any Med Surg unit; if floated to Tele, patients assigned within skillset
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must be royal blue if worn; no hoodies or sweat jackets permitted
• Epic EMR experience required
• Orientation includes 1 day of Epic training followed by 1 day of floor orientation with a preceptor
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Must provide an unexpired copy of driver's license with submission
• BSN not required
• Acute care setting
