Telemetry RN Job in Winston Salem, NC

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Crisis Response is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract on their Med-Surg Telemetry unit. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, totaling 36 hours weekly.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience—this unit does not accept first-time travelers due to the complexity of the floor
• IV start skills and current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start date

Unit Overview:

This is a fast-paced Med-Surg Telemetry unit with a daily census of 30 patients across 30 beds, turning over approximately one-third of beds daily. You will care for adults and geriatric patients with conditions including GI disorders, blood loss and anemia, infections, renal disease, and post-surgical patients. The unit maintains 10 telemetry beds for cardiac rhythm monitoring.

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Patient ratio of 1:6, with occasional 1:7 ratio during peak census or call-outs
• Floating to other Med-Surg units and floors as needed
• Every other weekend requirement
• Blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care, heparin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care and wound vacs, PCA pump management, renal failure management, surgical drain care, and rapid response team participation

Systems and Skills:

You will use PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR documentation systems. Telemetry experience and Epic charting experience are preferred. You will receive 36 hours of orientation.
