Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work on a 36-bed Neuro Med-Surg/Telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient ratio is 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required
• Float to Med-Surg and Med-Surg/Telemetry units within scope based on hospital needs
• Charting system is Cerner
• Scrub color is navy blue
• 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required; neurology experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred
• CVA/acute stroke care and pre/post-neurosurgery experience required
• Spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury experience required
• Feeding-tube care, pre/post-hemodialysis care, and renal failure experience required
• Surgical drain, wound care/wound VAC, oxygen administration, and isolation/PPE experience required
• Experience with continuous bedside EEG monitoring, telemetry, and bladder scanning required
• Common diagnoses include CVA, ischemic stroke, epilepsy, seizures, radiculopathy, cervical stenosis, rhabdomyolysis, post-laminectomy, post-ACDF, post-craniotomy, and ETOH withdrawal
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma certification by week 27
• TCRN preferred
• Basic EKG assessment through Prophecy Relias required and must be successfully completed before attending orientation
• 8 hours of annual stroke continuing education credits required
• 4 hours of annual trauma-related continuing education credits required
• Maryland or compact RN license required upon submission
• Block scheduling is not available
• Previous charge experience preferred
