ED RN Job in Salem, VA

You'll join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a travel RN in our 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day assignment beginning September 21, 2026, working night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three days per week.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with a typical patient ratio of 4–6:1
• Manage complex procedures including rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, and central line placement
• Care for psychiatric patients and facilitate EMTALA transfers
• Work within a night shift team consisting of 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2–3 medics

Assignment Details

• Shift: 3x12 nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required
• Four weekend shifts required within each four-week scheduling period
• Weekly pay: $1,940

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of emergency room experience
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• Experience in high-acuity, high-volume ERs
• Experience managing patient ratios of 5:1
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIH stroke certification
