Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Position focuses on Neurology and Stroke care for adult and geriatric patients
• Care for patients with acute embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, epileptic and non-epileptic seizures, and neurosurgical cases including shunt revisions, tumor removals, and craniotomies
• Stroke care follows AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• 24-hour orientation provided
• Assignment length up to 26 weeks
• 1 year of recent experience in unit required
• 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required clinical skills include: starting and maintaining IVs, accessing and managing ports, PICC and central line management, peripheral IV care, blood product administration, PCA and heparin protocols
• Respiratory skills required: high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, and trach management
• Telemetry skills required: remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response Team utilization
• Neurological care skills required: CVA care, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, pre/post neurosurgery, continuous bladder irrigation, isolation precautions, surgical drain management, and feeding tube care
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• May occasionally float to other units per the needs of the hospital; floating is limited to areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies
• Active South Carolina or multistate nursing license required
