ICU Registered Nurse Job in Avon, IN

You'll work as an RN in a 14-bed ICU at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana. This is a four 12-hour night shift position with 48 guaranteed hours per workweek. The assignment runs for 84 days, beginning October 7, 2026. Your weekly pay is $2,431.

Unit Overview

The ICU is a high-acuity, 24/7 environment with a daily census of 12. You'll care for adults and geriatric patients in a heavy medical ICU with some surgical cases, primarily GI and carotid interventions. The unit admits direct transfers from a very active on-site Cath Lab. Your standard patient ratio is 1:2 in the ICU; when floating to other units (AAU, Med-Surg, or PCU), the ratio widens to 1:4.

Clinical Skills Required

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Multi-system organ failure management
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization and intervention care
• IV insulin protocols and GI surgery care
• Chronic and acute renal failure management
• Arterial line and central line care
• PICC line management
• Continuous IV sedation administration
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
• ABG interpretation and suctioning
• Blood product administration and infection prevention protocols

Requirements

Minimum two years of ICU experience required. Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory; NIHSS certification is preferred. You must have Cerner charting experience. You will float to AAU, Med-Surg, and PCU units within scope. No on-call is required, but you must work two out of three major holidays and variable weekend shifts.

Support & Logistics

The unit provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, social services, interpretation services, and a unit secretary. Free parking is available. Dress code is red top with black bottoms.
